Fares and Tips when visting Trang An

It take only 10 minutes to driving to Trang An from Ninh Binh Hidden Charm Hotel. Which season you should travel to Trang An? The best time to go to Trang An is the beginning of the year, from January to March, the weather is cool during this time.This is also the festive season at Bai Dinh pagoda, therefore, it is possible to combine spring walk and pagoda sightseeing. Depending on your convenient time, you can travel at other times.

The only mean of travelling in Trang An is the boat. When entering the gate, you buy a sightseeing ticket that includes boat fares.

There are 3 routes for your choice:

Route 1: Boat station - Trinh Temple - Dark Cave - Light Cave - Nau ruou Cave - Tran Temple - Ba Giot Cave - Seo Cave - Son Duong Cave - Khong Palace - Bao Hieu Pagoda - Khong Cave - Tran Cave - Quy Hau Cave (takes 3.5 hours)

Route 2: Boat station - Lam Cave - Vang Cave - Thanh Truot Cave - Suoi Tien Temple - Dai Cave - Vu Lam Royal step-over place - Kong studio (Aboriginal village) - return to boat station (takes 2.5 hours)

Route 3: Boat station – Trinh Temple – May Cave – Tien Stream – Dia Linh Cave – Dai Cave – Vu Lam Royal step-over place – Kong studio (Aboriginal village) - return to boat station (takes 3 hours)

 

TOURIST DESTINATIONS OF TRANG AN ROUTE

 

Trinh Temple

Trinh Temple is the place to worship 4 meritorious officials of Dinh dynasty, two Ta Thanh Tru and two Huu Thanh Tru. In their current dynasty, they were the General Supervisor who governed the gold stores, safes of the King. Legend has it that when King Dinh Tien Hoang deceased, the court was in trouble, they brought Dinh Toan concealed here to avoid the arrest of Le Hoan.When the Empress Duong Van Nga handed over the imperial robe to abdicated in favour of Thap dao General Le Hoan, they did not subdue and suicided in this area, the people built the Temple next to the mountain side to worship them

 

Tu Tru Temple

Tu Tru temple is located next to Trinh temple, a relic worshiping 4 highranking madarins of Dinh dynasty, including Prime Minister Nguyen Bac, Ngoai giap Dinh Dien, Great tutor Luu Co and Minister Trinh Tu.

The Book "Dai Nam Quoc su Dien ca", as well as folk poetry, often refers to the Four pillars of "Bac, Dien, Co, Tu", which are the four pillars of Dinh dynasty.The four pillars are the four close mandarins with the same homeland and the same age as King Dinh Tien Hoang, who helped the King Dinh to eradicate 12 warlords, unify the country.The highranking madarins, Nguyen Bac, Dinh Dien, Trinh Tu and Luu Co are worshiped in many places, especially in Ha Nam - Nam Dinh - Ninh Binh.

 

Tran Ninh Binh Temple

Tran Ninh Binh Temple was built by King Dinh Tien Hoang at the same time as Hung Temple. Later, King Tran Thai Tong came here and established Vu Lam Royal step-over place to continue to renovate more powerfully, thus, it was called Tran Temple.Tran Temple is the place to worship Quy Minh god, the god defending border pass of the south of Hoa Lu four gods. The temple is also called Noi Lam temple (temple in the forest). Tran Noi Lam Temple together with Vu Lam and Van Lam constituted Tam Lam under the Tran dynasty.

 

Khong Palace

Khong Palace is located on a narrow strip of land, with its back leaning against Khong cave, on the right is a steep rocky mountain range, in front of it is an immense valley of water.Phu Khuong is the place to worship 7 loyal mandarins of the Dinh dynasty, in association with legends that when King Dinh Tien Hoang deceased, 7 officials in the court brought many coffins buried in directions and committed suicide to keep secrets about the real grave. A general who defended the southern citadel was extremely grateful for the disposition to do well of the seven loyal mandarins, then he made an incense-burner to worship here. After the death of the general, the people in the area built a temple and planted a diospyros decandra in front of the Palace to commemorate the loyal mandarins. The fruits of the thousands - year old diospyros decandra have two types: round and flat.

 

Vu Lam Royal step-over place

Vu Lam royal step-over place is located deep in the mountain forest area of Trang An World Heritage Complex. The center of Vu Lam royal step-over place worships Tran dynasty's King and officials.In the reign of the Tran Dynasty, there was a famous mandarin Truong Han Sieu with native place from Ninh Binh, he was a famous scholar during the Tran dynasty, and an effective guest of Tran Hung Dao.Truong Han Sieu was resolute with profound knowledge, had great merit in the second and third resistance against Nguyen Mong.During the period that King Tran Nhan Tong returned to this land to lead a religious life, then the famous mandari Truong Han Sieu also withdrew to retreat, lead a religious life and established a temple in his homeland, Ninh Binh.Therefore, Truong Han Sieu was also worshiped at this relic.

 

Cao Son Temple

Cao Son Temple worships Cao Son god, defending in the West of Hoa Lu four gods. According to the gods of Cao Son temples in Ninh Binh, Cao Son Royal Highest is Military chief Vu Lam (ie, the western mountains of Ninh Binh today, thus called the western god of Hoa Lu four gods), the 17th son of King Lac Long Quan, when he obeyed his king (the First King Hung Vuong) to patrol from Nam Linh to Thien Duong, he found a plant with powder on its trunk used to make cakes instead of rice flour and took his name for the tree. It is Quang lang (local people still call quang lang tree or bung bang tree).The god had taught and helped the people to win their bread while protecting them from destructive forces, therefore many temples have been established to worhsip him.

 

Suoi Tien Temple

Suoi Tien Temple is located at the upstream of the Ngo Dong river, which is actually an extension point of the Tam Coc tourist route but is connected in the second tourist route in Trang An eco-tourism area. The temple worships Quy Minh god of the South - Hoa Lu four gods

 

Dia Linh cave

Dia Linh Cave is about 1500m long and is the first cave in the journey from the boat station of Sao Khe in Route1.The cave is also called Chau Bau cave because when coming here, you will feel like lost in the treasure of fossil stalactites.Coming out of the cave entrance is a charming scenery of clouds, mountains and rivers. The cave is 260m long with many spectacularly dropped stalactites.

 

Nau Ruou Cave

In the Nau Ruou cave, there is a deep underground water circuit of more than 10m, which is said that the ancestors had come into the cave to get this kind of water to cook wine and present the king.

 

Ba Giot Cave

Ba Giot Cave has many stalactites with full colors. There is a type called prophet trees that grow from the backward ceiling.A special point is that the stalactites in Ba Giot cave are not as dry as the previous ones but soaked and continue to transform, forming new shapes and shades ...

 

Boi Cave

Boi Cave is a valuable archaeological site in the Trang An World Heritage Site.The entrance of the cave is very deep and dense with many species of trees growing thickly, the sunlight could not radiate onto the ground, so the road was full of moss and leaves.

Boi Cave was discovered in 2002.At that time, inside the cave there had many mollusk shells, animal bones and some stripped pieces, evidence showed that the imprint of prehistoric people of Hoa Binh Culture was about ten thousand years ago.The researchers unanimously named Boi cave because it was in the Boi valley associated with the legend of the king and officials of the Tran dynasty who used to cast coins here

 

Studio ‘Kong: Skull Island”

Kong: Skull Island is an American blockbuster flim that was shot in 2016 with many scenes at Vietnamese landscapes such as: Trang An World Heritage Complex, Van Long Nature Reserve, Tam Coc - Bich Dong (Ninh Binh); Ha Long Bay (Quang Ninh) and Phong Nha (Quang Binh).

The studio of Aboriginal village was rebuilt with an area of about 10 hectares consisting of 36 hut-shaped huts with the participation of more than 50 Aboriginal peoples. This is a model developed by Trang An Ecological Management Board and Xuan Truong Enterprise.Background of the Aboriginal movie scene in the movie Kong: Skull Island is located at the Trang An tourist site opened for visitors from 15/4/2017.
